Decomposed Granite
Decomposed granite is a rock of granitic origin that has weathered to the point that it readily fractures into smaller pieces of weak rock. Further weathering produces rock that easily crumbles into mixtures of gravel-sized particles, sand, and silt-sized particles with some clay. Natural decomposed granite is commonly used in landscapes for mulching, patios, garden paths, play areas, or sports surfaces. Without any additives loose decomposed granite is an excellent non-organic mulch and can be spread around trees and other plants. It continues to weather over time and provides nutrients to surrounding soil and plants.
